"Doctor's efforts to combat childhood obesity does not work."
YA THINK?
Duh-huh, No shit people., Sherlock.
"Friday, September 4th (HealthDay News)--researchers recommend that officials in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia her consider their efforts to combat childhood obesity, because the current strategies--emphasis on healthy diets and physical activity--don't work.
In a study released online 4 september in BMJ, Australian researchers followed more than 250 overweight and mild obesity Australian children that their family doctors visited between 2005 and 2006. a total of 139 were given counseling of more than three months about changing their eating habits and increasing exercise; the other 119 did not get such counseling.
Parents said the kids who drank less soda counseling received, but they are not eating more fruits or vegetables or less fat, and they don't lose large amounts of weight.
The researchers reported that short, physician-led intervention produced no long term improvement in body mass index, physical activity and eating habits.
The guidance is not harmful, the authors of the study noted, but it doesn't seem to work and is expensive.
"Funds can be better shared between primary prevention in the community and the population level, and the improvement of clinical treatment options for children with established obesity," the researchers concluded. "

The kids don't speak.Which child is listening to anything any raised has to say right?Don't expect the community to do something miraculous and curing obesity. certainly not look at the Government!
No.Obesity begins at home.
Start with what mama stuffs in her face while pregnant (Krispy Kreme anyone?), to what she offers the day he is born baby (breast milk which is of course full of nutrients and fats [FAT] and very low in sugars [lactose]? Or formula that is loaded with soy, cereals and sugar [corn syrup]?
Parents decide whether she will feed their babies vegetables first, or just start with the sweet fruit ("because she loves them and eat as well when we feed her peaches 3 times a day!"They decide whether only milk or water in the bottle or just say "forget it! He cry and the juice settles him always down!
Parents decide whether Turkey and cheese sandwiches to whole wheat with rhizomes or just throw a Lunchable and a sports drink in their children's book bag, or worse, just let them eat the swill that the school serves (hey
Wake up, world. aligning to make medical community. Open your eyes, nutritionists.
Parenting can END childhood obesity.
We have only parents to tell the truth. let them know what kind of crap they are feeding their children. educate the public about the dangers of soy and seed oil and HFCS. Help them combat of the agro-food industry and the Government nutrition standards and demand good food in the stores.
What do you think? that's all it takes? Only parents to intensify? what are your suggestions for ending/combating childhood obesity? I would like to hear your opinion!
